Shinin' Shade: Sat-urn
03/11/13 || Cobal
What would happen if bands like Lacuna Coil played metal? Well, perhaps they’d sound more like these Italians here. Also, they probably wouldn’t get as much attention and would be doomed to remain underground.
Indeed, “Sat-Urn” could be addressed as an archetypical low budget
doom metal European release with everything that implies. For example,
low budget means a completely different thing in the old continent and
in the 3rd world, if you know what I mean. On the other hand, this is
the kind of record that actually grows as it unfolds. While the first
two tracks are rather meh and even mediocre at times, I can plainly
state the album gets to a great momentum by the sixth one, “Denied fornicators
lovers”, with gargantuan levels of groove and a jazzy/bluesy kind of
slow heaviness. Also, the vocals here are definitely a highlight.
8/10: It takes its time, but makes it after all.
After going thru that crap, you most likely wanna read something way more interesting. You do, admit it.
